Understanding and Valuing the MAS industry

The UK has a long history in driving marine technology forward and MAS is no exception. Underpinning this is a diverse range of suppliers and organisations, from small and medium sized enterprises, academia, through to multinational companies. Furthermore, these organisations are driving forward the use of MAS in a wide range of applications, including marine science, oil and gas, offshore renewables, defence and security and commercial shipping.

Recognising the interconnected nature of the technology, the linkages to adjacent sectors and the importance of collaboration, the MASG council is working in a number of ways to build networks across its membership and to establish relationships, including:

• Supply chain mapping, including gathering data on trends and issues
• Technology road mapping
• Highlighting the value of the UK MAS enterprise from this information
