Improving the Business Environment
We are avid members of Maritime UK which brings together the UK’s shipping, ports, services, engineering and leisure marine industries. Maritime UK works on a number of fronts to drive growth by promoting the sector, influencing government and fostering collaboration.
To ensure the issues affecting our members are brought before government we hold regular meetings with officials from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Department for Transport (DfT), Department for International Trade (DIT), Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Cabinet Office.
Our Honorary Vice Presidents are a valuable source of advice from the House of Commons and enable us to ensure that we have access to all levels of government.
In pursuit of members’ interests, we maintain influence on an extensive number of bodies that have bearing on the maritime sector. The list includes, but is not restricted to, Maritime UK Technology and Innovation Group, Maritime UK Maritime Autonomous Systems Steering Group, Defence Industries Council, the All-Party Parliamentary Maritime and Ports Group, the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee, Scottish Enterprise Aerospace Defence and Marine Industry Leadership Group, London International Shipping Week Steering Group and the SME Forum of the Defence Suppliers’ Forum.
